out of the lab and
into the market

BioMADE’s Iowa facility is building a customer pipeline now and set to open in 2028.

This facility will complement other Iowa-based facilities to increase the speed at which companies can move through technological development and scale-up processes, bringing innovative biotechnologies from the laboratory bench to commercial production.

As a multi-user facility, the Iowa site will serve companies around the country as they seek to move biomanufactured products into the market.

Have questions? We have answers.

  • BioMADE California is set to open to customers in mid-2027. BioMADE Iowa and Minnesota are both set to open to customers in early 2028. But it’s never too early to talk to our team about how BioMADE facilities can meet your company’s needs and take your products to the next level. Reach out to infrastructure@biomade.org to get started.

  • BioMADE will work to be as transparent with our pricing as possible and will use a standard pricing model across all facilities. Projects will be scoped out through an iterative process with your organization and our scale-up experts. The project scope will include an individualized cost estimate that will be influenced by project scope and complexity (e.g.  fermentation or downstream processing complexity, total unit operations, length of time, etc.). As a non-profit organization working to support the bioindustrial manufacturing industry, revenue from work performed will allow BioMADE to invest further in facilities, equipment, technology, and other needs that enhance the industry.

  • BioMADE’s Pilot Plant Network will allow your company to scale faster, taking products from benchtop toward commercial scale. Our California and Iowa facilities will both support food-grade capabilities, and our Minnesota facility will have explosion-proof downstream capabilities. Appropriately sized see trains at each facility will support fermentation volumes from 4,000L to 25,000L.

As the Network continues to mature, we’ll grow these capabilities and continue to add more strategic partners. Tell us your needs!  Description text goes here

  • The BioMADE PPN is built for companies that have a biomanufacturing process working at bench or lab scale and are ready to ask, “will this work at a larger scale, and what do the economics look like when it does?” Whether you need the ability to prove out your process, produce material for application trials, or generate the data package to raise your next round of funding, the BioMADE PPN can meet your needs.

BioMADE’s facilities are designed to scale with you as you grow, with fermenter capacity moving from 4,000- to 10,000- to 25,000-liters.

  • Yes! TEA services will be available through BioMADE for Pilot Plant Network clients.

  • We’re excited to talk to you about your needs! Reach out to infrastructure@biomade.org to be connected with our team.
